DESCRIPTION: E. Howard & Co., Boston, Mass., series III, N size, 15 jewels, key wind and set, gilt plate movement with lever escapement, cut bimetallic balance, gold timing screws, Reeds patent barrel, maintaining power and Geneva stops in a coin silver, hinged back and bezel, open face case, marked "BWC?" and with old English style N, and Roman numeral, single sunk, white enamel dial, blued steel spade hands, serial #18846, c1865.
CONDITION: CASE: Minor dents and dings; Scratches on outer surface of case; Minor scratches on inner surface of case; Minor scratches on crystal; Precious metal content marked. DIAL: Spider hairlines, 1:30 to dial center; Flake in enamel concealed by bezel; Specks of dirt / dust. HANDS: Good. MOVEMENT PLATES: Minor scratches on plate; Very dirty, some discoloration, minor specks of verdigris; Bright work with a few specks of oxidation. MOVEMENT FUNCTION: Running order (winds, sets and ticks), needs service.
